Thank you 1August 30, 2011 The Committee would like to thank everybody who came along and supported the Lee Festival on Saturday. We had a great turnout of cars with many non-members joining us as well. Despite the weather the day was judged to be a success, keep an eye on Miniworld for an event article and photo's.
Once again, Thankyou!
Lee Festival update 1August 24, 2011 The weather is looking fair for Saturday, but if it turns bad we may relocate into the High Street area, so if we're not on the seafront head inland one road.
Approximate timetable in the Mini display area
0900 - Gates open to allow cars onto the display area.
1000 - Gates to be closed, (for everyone’s safety).
No vehicle movements permitted until the gates are re-opened.
1100 to 1400 – Steering, suspension and brake advice clinic, courtesy of Dr Rex from “The Mini Surgery”.
1300 - Judging* for various Classic and New Mini awards, all cars displayed will be considered.
1400 – Voting for the overall winning car closes, make sure you get your vote in!
1500 – Prize giving by the P&SMOC gazebo, do come along, you never know….
Approx 1545 - Gates open for vehicles to depart if required, (timing may be delayed slightly to avoid the Samba band/BMX stunt team display times).
1700 - Site to be cleared of any remaining cars.
(*) – This is not a Concours d'Elegance competition so please don’t take it too seriously, awards will be based on the Judge’s favourites on the day, all cars on display will be considered and any car could win.
Lee Festival 2011 1July 19, 2011 Firstly, if you're visiting us as a result of a listing in a magazine, welcome to our site! Please feel free to have a browse around, and don't forget to visit our Forum too.
Following a successful display in 2010, Portsmouth and Southampton Mini Owners Club invite you to Lee-on-the-Solent seafront on Saturday August 27th 2011 for another gathering of New & Classic Minis.
This free, informal gathering will once again form part of the 2011 Lee Festival, (organised by the Lee Business and Residents Association), which will include various stalls, activities and displays located in the surrounding streets. The festival organisers have arranged something for all the family, so don’t worry about the little ones, there’ll be plenty to keep them busy too. You can also spend time on the beach, or in the various shops, bars and cafes nearby. Of course, you could spend your time admiring the other cars, talking Mini, catching up with friends and perhaps make a few new ones too.
Access to the grassed display area will be via the small car park to the west of the amusement arcade, (just travel along the seafront with the wet stuff to your left, and enter the small car park opposite the shops, just after the traffic lights). If you are coming courtesy of those new-fangled satnavi thingys, you should head for the junction of Marine Parade and Milvil Road, the nearest postcode is PO13 9LL.
In order to minimise the risk to the public, vehicular access to the display site will be between the hours of 09-00am and 10-00am only, cars arriving outside these times will find the gates shut and will be directed to one of the nearby pay and display car parks. The gates will be re-opened again from approximately 3-45pm to allow departure, (exact departure time will depend on the BMX stunt team display times).
No vehicle movements allowed in between, except in an emergency.
The site should be vacated by 5-00pm.
Space will be allocated on a first come first served basis, we estimate the area will hold around 150 cars, but, in the unlikely event that we run out of space, vehicles will be required to use one of the nearby pay and display car parks.
All clubs and individuals are welcome to participate, but groups wishing to park together should arrive together and we will do our best to accommodate. It would be helpful if any clubs/groups that plan to attend could E-mail with approximate numbers so we can plan ahead, (particularly if a club stand display is planned).
Awards will be made for the judges favourite Classic Mini and New MINI, plus a couple of other random awards too. So get polishing, all cars will be considered so it could be yours!
Weather permitting, there will be a 'brakes and steering' surgery, a great opportunity for you to get some advice on your car before the autumn weather arrives.
You are welcome to bring your unwanted spares to sell from your car, but please help keep the council happy and protect the grass by keeping dirty/oily parts on a plastic sheet and please bring an oil drip tray.
Sorry, for obvious reasons, the use of BBQs is not permitted within the grassed display area.
Dogs are welcome with their considerate owners and should be kept on a lead, but please note, the beach area itself is a dog free zone in the summer months.
If you have any questions, require any further information or want to book in a group, please E-mail events@pandsmoc.com
Please read this important disclaimer –
All drivers and their passengers participate in this event at their own risk. The organisers, P&SMOC, the Lee Business and Residents Association and Gosport Council will not accept any responsibility for any loss or damage to persons or property while taking part in this event.
SUSPENSION OF NEW PROMS AND WEDDINGS 1June 14, 2011 Following a Committee Meeting tonight we are with immediate effect declining any new proms and weddings until further notice. All existing proms and weddings will be honoured as far as possible please have a back up plan as we can not quarantee the availability of the minis, as these are peoples personal minis and unlike a business we do not have spare minis to cover breakdowns etc. |
