Don’t forget that the meeting point for this event is the Emsworth Service area, (A27 eastbound), to leave at 08-30am. We have a six car stand booked and if we have more than six cars on the day, names will be drawn for those places. The remaining cars will be located around the show perimeter, which is quite compact so you’ll never be far from the action.

Lee Festival - Saturday 28th August

Portsmouth and Southampton Mini Owners Club invite you to Lee-on-the-Solent seafront on Saturday August 28th for a gathering of New & Classic Mini Owners.
The gathering will form part of the 2010 Lee Festival, (organised by the Lee Business and Residents Association), which will include various stalls, activities and displays located in the surrounding streets. The festival organisers have arranged something for all the family, and in addition to the newly refurbished children’s play area, there will be a children’s treasure hunt, family Geocache event, poetry competition, pony rides, children’s workshops, Jonathan the jester, face painting and a bouncy castle, so don’t worry about the kids, there’ll be plenty to keep them busy. You can also spend time on the beach or in the various shops, bars and cafes nearby. Of course, you could spend your time admiring the other cars, talking Mini, catching up with friends and perhaps make a few new ones too.
Access to the grassed display area will be via the small car park to the west of the amusement arcade, (just travel along the seafront with the wet stuff to your left, and enter the small car park opposite the shops, just after the traffic lights). If you are coming courtesy of your Satnav, you should head for the junction of Marine Parade and Milvil Road, the nearest postcode is PO13 9LL.
In order to minimise the risk to the public, vehicle access to the site will be between the hours of 09-00am and 10-00am only, cars arriving outside these times will be directed to one of the nearby pay and display car parks. The gates will be re-opened again from approximately 3-45pm for departure, (for safety reasons, the exact departure time will depend on the BMX stunt team display times).
No vehicle movements allowed in between, except in an emergency.
The site should be vacated by 5-00pm.
Space will be allocated on a first come first served basis, we estimate the area will hold around 150 cars, but, in the unlikely event that we run out of space, vehicles will be required to use one of the nearby pay and display car parks.
Groups wishing to park together should arrive together and we will do our best to accommodate. It would be helpful if any clubs/groups who plan to attend, could E-mail events@pandsmoc.com with approximate numbers so we can plan ahead.
There is no cost to participate although the various charities that are participating in the festival will welcome any donations you might care to make.
Prizes will be awarded for best Classic Mini and best New MINI.
You are welcome to bring your unwanted spares to sell from your car, but please protect the grass by keeping dirty/oily parts on a plastic sheet and please bring an oil drip tray.
Sorry, the use of BBQs is not permitted.
Dogs are welcome and should be kept on a lead, but please note, the beach area itself is a dog free zone in the summer months.

I’m sure you are all aware as this has been on the monthly newsletter for several months now, but in case you have forgotten –
If you want the club to order discounted admission tickets and/or track passes on your behalf, we need to receive your payments by the end of the meeting on Sunday July 18th. We also need to know by that date if you want to come on the club stand, even if you are ordering your own tickets, (this is because I will be ordering the stand space passes at the same time as I order the admission tickets). If your name isn’t on the list by this date, you will only get on the stand if someone else drops out.

Another busy weekend!

Well last weekend certainly kept us busy; this weekend will be much the same.
On Saturday we will be attending the Denmead Junior School Classic car show and fete. We are meeting at the West Walk car park in the Forest of Bere to leave at 11-30am. Entry is free.
And on Sunday we have what is perhaps the best known Mini show in the South, yes; it’s the Mini Cooper Register’s “National Mini Day” at Beaulieu. We are meeting at Rownham’s service area, (M27 Westbound), to leave at 09-00am. Please don’t be late, (especially if you haven’t collected your advance tickets yet).
If you are paying on the gate, admission is £10 per adult and £5 for children if you arrive in a Mini, cost increases to £12 per adult if you arrive in a non-Mini.
Please note – this year there will be a second entrance gate in Beaulieu village, however, in order to simplify access to our stand, the organisers have asked our club to use the main entrance gate as usual.

Don't forget this coming weekend, we have a quiz night on Saturday 5th June, and on Sunday, we are planning a run to Queen Elizabeth Country Park to visit the South Hants Vehicle Preservation Society Autojumble and Classic Car Show.
