I have arranged for a tour of MINI Plant Oxford for Saturday 6th March at 1000. If you've not been before, this is a fasinating chance to visit a state-of-the-art car factory. The historians amongst you will know this is also the location where Sir Alec Issigonis designed, developed and manufactured the first MINI's back in 1959 when the plant was known as Cowley.
You will get to visit the Museum and then follow the whole production process from the robots punching out the first floor-pan to the finished MINI driving off the production line and onto the lorry that will deliver it to it's lucky new owner.
The tour costs £12 per person in cash which is donated to a local charity. The tour is conducted by two former Cowley workers with decades of experience of the plant.
We'll meet at Sutton Scotney North at 0800 for an 0830 departure. Bring your cameras as there will be plenty of opportunities to snap photos in the Museum and outside the factory against the massive MINI backdrop!
