My turn for the charity request

Postby lpitt » Wed Jul 14, 2010 8:45 am

Again this year I'm doing the Banger Rally through Europe. It's going to be 1,800 miles each way in a 1991 Diesel Peugeot 205 with 178,000 miles on the clock - gotta be worth something!

Please take a look if you can.

Excellent! Thanks Sally.

We will have fun. This is the most fun it's possible to have after leaving the house (pretty much!)

Got back safely on Sunday.

The rally is a fantastic experience - we stopped at the old GP Circuit outside Reims, visited the Monaco GP Circuit, drove up and down Stelvio pass, sightseeing in Venice and finished up in Venice. The whole lot with 68 other nutters. Some of the cars that turned up:

Us - Pug 205, 180k when we got home
2 x Rover 827 Limousines.
A Mazda MX-5
A Rover 216SLi convertible with a stuck down roof

Etc.

After the rally we drove home from Rome. Left at 9.30am on Saturday, arrived home at 9.00am on Sunday. We arrived in Dunkerque and drove STRAIGHT onto the Ferry, so our only real stop was the 90 minute crossing!

Car now needs a bit of attention. The offside wheelbearing is on the way out, and there seems to be a driveshaft problem. Hopefully not too terminal.

Loads of pictures, just not had time to do anything with them yet.

I just want to add a thanks to Karen (mini mad kaz) and co.

Back in June they responded to the 'Minis for a Prom' post and received £70. They have decided to donate this to my rally cause so that the 'poorly children can benefit'.

This is brilliant, it also puts us (at last count) £7 over our target for the rally.

Thanks again.
